The Creative Citizen (CC) Awards

Yes it is! That being said, due to the extremely limited space for this out-of-the ordinary night of celebration, note that there are no preferential ticket prices for guests under the age of 18 years old.

However, we highly encourage you to take advantage of group tickets to access exclusive pricing as low as $40 per ticket. These group tickets are very limited in availability so plan early to save money on tickets for your kids!

At La Connexional, we always strive our best to make our experiences as financially accessible as possible to all the members of our communities. 

No, there will not be any dedicated spaces for kids at the CC Awards.

The Art Gallery of Alberta, where the CC Awards is taking place, is quite a large space; therefore, we encourage parents to stay close to their kids and watch them.  

All the hors d'oeuvres for the gala are prepared à la carte, meaning that they are prepared immediately before they are served to you.

The hors d'oeuvres (exquisite bite-size appetizers) for the Gala will also include gluten-free, vegetarian, and dairy-free options! 

For the first edition of the Creative Citizen Awards, the selection committee was made up of 5 of La Connexional's executive team and awardees were selected based on 3 primary criterias:

1 - Amount of Nominations (15%)

2 - Achievements, Excellence & quality of their work (55%)

3 - Impact (of their work/practice) on the community (30%)

*Please note that team executives were not individually allowed to nominate a creative nor receive an award. Furthermore, any nominations for a La Connexional team executive were automatically disqualified.

The CC Awards primarily aims to recognize the (creative) talents and contributions of people of African, Black, Caribbean and Latin (ABCL) descent from Alberta To The World. The CCA will focus on recognizing the youth (18 - 30) and changemakers within Alberta's creative communities.

We encourage the nominations of creatives who identify within ABCL and BIPOC communities. Equitable representation is at the core of what we do within La Connexional, and these awards will be given to those that demonstrate awareness and amplification of our communities. 🤎

Ultimately, the Creative Citizen Awards and La Connexional's New Year Gala aims to:

• Recognize the amazing Albertan-based talents that continue to enrich the cultural richness and diversity of our province.
• Bring together creatives, community builders, actors, doers and enthusiasts all in one place to connect and network with the intention of creating long-lasting relationships and future collaborations.
• Stimulating, co-creating and facilitating partnerships between Albertan-based creatives and organizations.
• Increasing a sense of solidarity and connectedness between all diversities and communities in Edmonton.

 The Creative Citizen (CC) Awards is the ultimate celebration of creativity and diveristy.
